Team Coaching Labs - ECO-ANXIETY & COLLECTIVE RESILIENCE

Our Team Coaching for eco-anxiety and collective resilience helps teams recognise
and work with the emotional impact of ecological and complex global dynamics
challenges by developing shared awareness, emotional clarity, and coordinated
action.

ABOUT THIS PROGRAMME

In organisations working with sustainability and conservation, or more broadly those operating at the frontline of emotional exposure due to the nature of their mission, the ecological crisis is not only a strategic or operational reality, but also a psychological one. Climate change, biodiversity loss, and environmental degradation shape how individuals and teams feel, think, and relate to the future. Over time, this can create a continuous emotional load, often experienced as underlying tension, a heightened sense of urgency, or persistent pressure.

This exposure can resemble what has been described in other fields as “vicarious” stress; that is, a form of cumulative “secondary” stress, typically observed in caring professions, arising from sustained emotional, cognitive, and physical exposure to situations involving suffering.

Such team coaching programme focuses on helping teams understand eco-anxiety not as a problem to eliminate, but as a meaningful and adaptive response. It introduces a structured framework to explore eco-anxiety across three dimensions: as a moral emotion (concern for environmental harm), an existential emotion (uncertainty about the future), and a potential driver for collective action.

Through guided reflection and experiential exercises, teams develop a shared language to articulate what is often left unspoken. Participants learn to recognise how eco-anxiety manifests individually and collectively, how it influences collaboration and decision-making, and how to transform it into a resource for connection, alignment, and sustainable engagement.

PROGRAMME OUTCOMES

When eco-anxiety is recognised and worked with, it becomes a powerful lever for strengthening team cohesion and effectiveness. By developing emotional awareness and creating space for open dialogue, teams can move from carrying the emotional weight individually to engaging with it collectively.

This leads to improved mutual understanding, increased empathy and psychological safety, and reduced underlying tension. Teams become better equipped to sustain engagement over time, align around shared purpose, and translate concern into coordinated and meaningful action.

PROGRAMME FORMAT

This programme consists of three–five group/team sessions and can also be delivered as a full-day format.

Sessions can be conducted in a group setting virtually as well as face to face.
