Finding a Common Vision
Supporting individuals’ talents to find a common, shared vision through an extensive restructuring process.
THE CHALLENGE
An international institution entrusted with improving the world’s economy was undergoing an extensive reorganisation process that entailed a total redistribution of roles and responsibilities. Support was needed to identify jointly owned visions, and build a dynamic environment that appreciated the individual expertise and talents of each team member.
THE APPROACH
For this complex task, it was decided that a blended approach employing different methodologies would produce the best outcome. Individual and team coaching was provided to support deeper integration and understanding of talents. These conversations provided very clear ideas along with a safe space to bring concerns. Individual consultations were followed up with half-day team coaching sessions that were structured to understand the unique characteristics of the newly formed teams, generate synergies and alliances, and build more trust and respect. During these sessions, each participant committed to concrete behaviours and skills to develop.
THE OUTCOME
By the end of the programme, there were clear signs that participants had the desire to support other team members in technical and behavioural areas. Individuals displayed a deeper knowledge of other colleagues, appreciation for the diversity of the team along with increased awareness of their own skills. As a whole, the team was left with a common identity and vision, a sense of worth, and clarity of the diverse roles within the group. Importantly, the programme coached a key person within the organisation entrusted with making sure this positive impact continued through the transition period and beyond.
