The transformation of a talented financial executive into a leader with strong
interpersonal skills for one of the most prestigious global institutions.

THE CHALLENGE

One of the most important global financial institutions had a problem. Despite its long-standing prestige, over the past years the company had been seeing a lack of profit and high employee turnover. Their solution was to appoint talented financial specialists in order to turn the situation around, however this strategy only produced a certain level of change. Instead of ‘star executives’, they needed ‘star leaders’; individuals with heightened interpersonal skills, strategic thinking, and ‘bigger picture’ perspectives.

THE APPROACH

Personalised, Individual Leadership Coaching using was programmed into 10 coaching sessions of two hours each. Specific goals included actions to improve communication and workplace relationships, and to develop impact and influence. The sessions were structured over three levels: Exploring connections between subconscious narratives and behaviour; the recognition of what is ‘getting in their way’; and finally developing the confidence to experiment with new ways of being.

THE OUTCOME

Already a star executive, the client transformed to a star leader, exceeding their own expectations and those of their colleagues. They learned to listen instead of telling others what to do and how to do it, and understood the benefit of allowing others to work from their strengths. Growth accelerated and in a short time frame, they had tripled the size of their team, and helped double the value of their portfolio.
